I have already filed for divorce on cruelty & desertion grounds and am in the process of filing 498A & also Bygamy. After deserting me with my son he is staying with some other woman and has a daughter. Please, please help me know what is the punishment for the woman who is using my husband's name & surname for all her official records. Also through net I have found the below mentioned piece of informaton for punishment but please help me know is this section 493 applicable for this woman and can be punished or applicable only my husband.

"Every man who by deceit causes any woman who is not lawfully married to him to believe that she is lawfully married to him and to cohabit or have sexual intercourse with him in that belief, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.
CLASSIFICATION OF OFFENCE
Punishment—Imprisonment for 10 years and fine—Non-cognizable—Non-bailable—Triable by Magistrate of the first class—Non-compound­able."

From the section that you quoted, the punishment is only for the man who does the crime. Not for the woman.
