Section 1 in The Arbitration Act, 1940 1
1. Short title, extent and commencement.
(1)
This Act may be called the Arbitration Act, 1940 .
(2)
It extends to the whole of India 3[ except the State of Jammu and Kashmir].
(3)
It shall come into force on the 1st day of July, 1940 .
